?We are grateful to Together for Safer Roads for their generous investment in local leaders working to ensure everyone can walk, bike, drive, and ride transit safely in their communities,? said Leah Shahum, founder and director of the nonprofit Vision Zero Network. ?This is an opportunity to help our communities move out of a dangerous place of complacency on the issue of traffic safety and to instead prioritize policies and practices that value safety for all.?

?As a coalition, we believe in collective action. We?re committed to bringing relevant private sector expertise to partnerships with the public sector?all to expand the resources it takes to create safer transportation systems,? said David Braunstein, president of Together for Safer Roads. ?We?re excited to participate in this scholarship program with the Vision Zero Network as a first step to partnering with communities and achieving our shared mission to eliminate road deaths and serious injuries.?

Scholarship recipients will participate in the Vision Zero Cities Conference, which is organized by Transportation Alternatives and is the principal gathering of leaders working to make transformative improvements for safe travel in their communities. Topic areas explored during the conference include: effective policy change, speed management, data-driven decision-making, cross-sector collaboration, leadership development, equity-centered engagement and safety outcomes, effective evaluation, and much more ? all focused on the goal of ensuring safe mobility for all road users.
