Road Safety Innovators Collaborate to Accelerate Road Safety Solutions

September 13, 2018

WASHINGTON D.C. – Together for Safer Roads (TSR) announced three early-stage companies – Brisk Synergies, Idelic, and Peloton Technology – as the second cohort of its Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP). The program will connect these younger companies with road safety experts to advance innovative solutions that might reduce road crashes and fatalities.

The companies will work with TSR to refine solutions that complement and in some cases surpass conventional approaches to The Safe System Approach, which accommodates human error, embraces shared responsibility, and is proactive rather than reactive in preventing crashes. The GEP will provide the members the opportunity to:

  • Tap into a global network of transportation and mobility leaders through mentorships from global road safety experts helping scale to the needs of road users;
  • Accelerate adoption of life-saving technologies through engagement opportunities with TSR’s world-class membership; and
  • Influence the future of road safety tech through public-private partnerships and via TSR’s signature Safer Roads Challenge projects around the world.

“We’re very excited to welcome Brisk Synergies, Idelic, and Peloton Technology into our TSR family through our purpose-driven accelerator program,” said David Braunstein, president of TSR. “Each company brings a unique and thought-provoking perspective to road safety technology solutions, and we’re ready to dive in and determine how to create sustainable, safer transportation systems.”

The new GEP members are following in the footsteps of the program’s charter members – HAAS Alert, Ouster, and Zendrive – who will be graduating from the program in October. The new cohort was selected from many qualified applicants, and ultimately seven finalists, by TSR’s Innovation Impact Board, which consists of leaders from TSR Governing Board members, as well as innovation partners in the venture capital community and non-governmental organizations.

“It was a difficult decision for the Innovation Impact Board as there were many innovative companies that applied for our road safety program this year,” said George Yannis, Innovation Impact Board member and Chair of TSR’s Expert Panel. “In the end, this is not necessarily about picking winners. We would like nothing more than to see many new and innovative solutions reach the road safety community to complement what we already know that works to save lives.”

TSR’s GEP second cohort members are:

Brisk Synergies
Brisk Synergies is the leader in automated road safety analysis. By applying AI and Deep Learning on traffic video, Brisk Synergies helps transportation engineers and planners to better understand their road safety problems and identify solutions without waiting for collisions to occur. The system utilizes existing CCTV traffic camera to perform automated video analysis of traffic flow for effective and immediate road safety diagnosis and evaluation of interventions. This enables urban transportation engineers and planners to continuously make better, more knowledgeable decisions on how to improve traffic flow and reduce collisions.

Idelic
Idelic is a safety and fleet management software provider born from the trucking industry and infused with modern innovation and entrepreneurship. Idelic helps the Safety Teams at Transportation Fleets prevent crashes, lower insurance premiums, and improve driver retention by providing a comprehensive system to track all their driver data, connect all their third-party systems, automate compliance, and predict which drivers are most at risk for crashes through advanced machine learning (ML) algorithms.

Peloton Technology
Peloton is a connected and automated vehicle technology company dedicated to improving the safety and efficiency of U.S. and global freight transportation. Peloton partners with customers to deliver innovative tools that save fuel, avoid crashes, and improve operational insight through connectivity, automation, and advanced data analytics. Peloton’s flagship driver-assistive platooning system links the active safety systems of pairs of trucks, enhances driver teamwork, and connects trucks to a cloud-based Network Operations Center, which limits platooning to appropriate roads and conditions.
