Together For Safer Roads Announces Seven Finalists For Its 2020 Global Entrepreneur Program
Startup accelerator to name Cohort 3 in mid-December
BROOKLYN, NY ? Dec. 4, 2019 ? Together for Safer Roads (TSR), a coalition of leading private sector companies driven to save lives, today announced that seven startups have been named as Top Road Safety Leader finalists in its 2020 Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP). The GEP, sponsored by Dreampact Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank, connects early stage companies with road safety experts at multinational companies, regional governments and universities to reimagine solutions that reduce crashes and fatalities on the world?s roads.
In its third year, the 2020 GEP is focused on addressing problems and building solutions in three core areas:
- Intelligent Transportation Services
- Commercial Transportation Safety
- People-First Transportation Solutions
Finalists will present to a selection committee in mid-December at the GEP Pitch Day to be held at Silicon Valley Bank in San Francisco. Three of the startups will be chosen for TSR?s Cohort 3. The 2020 finalists include:
Awayr A.I. – a developer of human factors modeling software for human machine interface (HMI) technology and embedded systems, helping engineers design the next generation of autonomous vehicles, unmanned systems, ships, spacecraft and other sophisticated platforms used in high-risk, high priority situations. Awayr A.I. is working to dramatically improve distraction testing in the vehicle development process, to decrease driver distraction and to enable inspired vehicle design without compromising safety.
CY Vision – a vision systems and applications company with a breakthrough holographic 3D display technology for AR-HUD and HMI applications. CY Vision technology turns the windshield into a new screen, enabling a wide range of safety and infotainment applications for next generation vehicles.
Derq – developer of an AI platform that integrates with existing traffic and sensor systems and powers real-time advanced analytics and connected vehicle safety applications to help cities and road authorities eliminate road accidents and better manage traffic.
Digisure – an insurance services provider reshaping the insurance market by utilizing data driven customized underwriting at a transactional level, enabling marketplaces to digitally self-serve and outsource their Risk and Insurance needs in real time via API.
Impairment Measurement Marijuana and Driving (IMMAD) ? a company specializing in education, services and tech around impaired driving that occurs with the acute use of marijuana, including a two minute objective test to measure retinal dysfunction and determine fitness to drive with marijuana consumption.
Road-Aware ? a fleet management company providing driver performance assessment and improvement via a knowledge-based warning system, including alerts and safe speeds to drivers that are location specific, road geometry specific, and vehicle and load specific. It also allows Safety Managers to score driver performance.
Populus ? a mobility company that provides a platform to help cities and private mobility operators of shared bikes, scooters, and cars deliver safe, equitable, and efficient streets through better data and analytics.

In 2019, Cohort 2 was comprised of Brisk Synergies, Idelic and Peloton Technology. ?The program expanded our opportunities and perspectives through joint projects, and we were able to look at road safety issues with a much broader view,? said Charles Chung, CEO of Brisk Synergies. ?We partnered with TSR on two projects – the City of Houston and the City of Bellevue, WA – that are bringing absolute values= to a broad audience.?
